Summary:
Of the product accident information reported to the NITE Product Safety Technology Center, the number of accidents involving power cords such as those of hair dryers and electric heaters and wiring appliances such as power strips and receptacles amounted to 1,065 (*1) for the five-year period from fiscal 2007 to 2011. Accidents involving these products occur more frequently in the winter months when many electric products with high power consumption, such as heating appliances, are used. Hence we urge users to take note of the details of the accidents to prevent such accidents.
