The Ministry of International Trade and Industry has examined the safety related to the bacterial contamination (Legionella) in bathwater of a 24-hour bath by holding a specialist conference for examining 24-hour bath health problem, and in January 29, 1997, released the data outlines on the health measures submitted by the manufacturing and sales industries.

4. Legionella
The Legionella is free life bacteria living in soil and fresh water in the nature. According to the announcement of the scientific society, when Legionella enters into artificial water environment being stagnant or circulated in a closed cavity, it was confirmed that the number of Legionella increases more than that in the nature. If a person infected Legionella via the
respiratory passages or wound, it is told that there is a risk of the onset of the pneumonia.
This bacteria exists in the nature so that there is a chance to be detected by an inspection, however, if Legionella is detected, it does not always mean that the person contract the pneumonia.
The Ministry of International Trade and Industry does not perform the inspection of the Legionella, however, according to the districts, a public health center examines it so that if you want to have an examination, make contact to the public health center.
