2 Skin corrosion/irritation Category 2 Warning H315: Causes skin irritation P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P332+P313: If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P362: Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
"OECD SIDS Initial Assessment Draft Report SIAM 18 on Short chain methacrylate esters" in public comments was not found through general route. However, it has been described in OECD SIDS SIAP that "methacrylic acid esters with short chain (including this substance) typically indicate irritation to the skin of rabbits with prolonged contact under sealing." Moreover, seven study examples are described in IUCLID cited by the collection of CERI hazard data which was classified into the basis of three-ministry GHS classification "Category 3", and irritation is observed in six of these examples. Moreover, there are three study examples which meet the OECD Guidelines in 1981 and after, with the results of "slightly irritating" (simple obstruction, 1981), "highly irritating" (obstruction, 1981), and "not irritating" (simple obstruction/obstruction, 1985). Therefore, it is considered proper that it should be regarded as "typically irritating" and modified from " Category 3" to "Category 2".
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Not classified - - - - The description of OECD SIDS of "at worst, slight irritation slight " falls below the mild irritation of "Category 2B" of the U.N. GHS document, and there is a negative result in the GLP test organization according to OECD Test Guideline. Therefore, it is thought to be appropriate to correct from "Category 2B" to "Not classified".
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - -
4 Skin sensitization Category 1 Warning H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P333+P313: If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.
P261: Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P272: Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P363: Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
"OECD SIDS Initial Assessment Draft Report SIAM 18 on Short chain methacrylate esters" on public comments was not able to be found out on the Internet. However, it has been described in OECD SIDS SIAP that "ethyl, n--butyl, and i-butyl Methacrylate are positive in human cases of skin sensitization, and Methacrylate ester with short chain is a weak skin sensitizing substance." Therefore, it is considered proper that it should be corrected from "Classification not possible" to "Category 1". In addition, there are four study examples using guinea pig in IUCLID; one of them is positive and three of them are negative.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity - - - - - -
6 Carcinogenicity - - - - - -
7 Reproductive toxicity Not classified - - - - Decrease in the number of corpora lutea and implantations is just a small change as the effect on reproduction and is not such a change as can be used as the base for GHS Classification. Therefore, GHS Classification is classified into "Not classified".
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure - - - - - -
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Not classified - - - - In an oral administration study in rats by Ito et al. (1998), red pulp atrophy was observed. This red pulp atrophy is caused by a reduction in extramedullary hematopoiesis, but since no changes are observed in bone marrow hematopoietic cells or peripheral blood on a hemogram, it is believed that red pulp atrophy is not a change which indicates effects on hematopoietic functions. Therefore, based on this oral administration study in rats, it was judged that the lien should not be included in the specific target organs for repeated exposure. Moreover, according to Hagan et al's (1993) inhalation exposure test using rats, no effects on the lien were observed. Since the values in the other organs are within the guidance value ranges of "Category 2"in both species tests and no significant toxic effects have not been seen, it is proper to be classified as "Not classified" if based on GHS classification. Therefore, "Category 2 (lien)" of three-ministry GHS classification result is corrected to "Not classified".
