PHYSICAL HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Explosives Division 1.1 Danger H201: Explosive; mass explosion hazard P370+P380: In case of fire: Evacuate area.
P210: Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. ? No smoking.
P230: Keep wetted with ...
P240: Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.
P250: Do not subject to grinding/shock/.../friction.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P372: Explosion risk in case of fire.
P374: Fight fire with normal precautions from a reasonable distance.
P401: Store ...
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Since the substance, which is dry or wetted with less than 20% water or alcohol by mass, is defined as UN0219 and Division 1.1, it was classified into Division 1.1. (If the substance is wetted with not less than 20% water or alcohol by mass, it is defined as UN0394 and Division 1.1. Based on this information, it was classified into Division 1.1.)
2 Flammable gases (including chemically unstable gases) Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
3 Aerosols Not applicable - - - - Not aerosol products.
4 Oxidizing gases Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
5 Gases under pressure Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
6 Flammable liquids Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
7 Flammable solids Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Self-reactive substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - - Since the substance is classified as an explosive, classification as a self-reactive substance is not applicable.
9 Pyrophoric liquids Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
10 Pyrophoric solids Not classified - - - - Since its autoignition point is reported to be 220-225degC (The Society of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan, Dictionary of Organic Compounds, Kodansha Ltd. (1985) p.626), the substance is expected not to ignite spontaneously in contact with air at room temperature. Thus, the substance was classified into the "Not classified" category.
11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Not applicable - - - - The chemical structure of the substance does not contain metals or metalloids (B, Si, P, Ge, As, Se, Sn, Sb,Te, Bi, Po, At).
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
14 Oxidizing solids Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable - - - - Containing no bivalent -O-O- structure in the molecule
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible - - - - No data available.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
11 Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Acute) Category 3 - - H402: Harmful to aquatic life P273: Avoid release to the environment.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Since the 48-hour LC50 for crustaceans (Daphnia magna) is 52 mg/L (AQUIRE, 2007; Bentley et al., 1975), the substance was classified into Category 3. This test was conducted using the test substance which was first desensitized and then neutralized. Even though this process may have changed the property of the test substance, the altered test substance exhibited toxic effects in an experiment which is reliable, as it followed conventional test methods except for the endpoints. Thus, the substance was classified into Category 3.
11 Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Long-term) Category 3 - - H412: Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects P273: Avoid release to the environment.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Since its classification for acute toxicity is Category 3 and it is estimated not to be rapidly degradable (BIOWIN), the substance was classified into Category 3.
