HEALTH HAZARDS

1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - - Since the substance is a solid, it was classified into the "Not applicable" category.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - C.I. Acid Red 114 (CAS: 6459-94-5) did not induce unscheduled DNA synthesis in an in-vivo genotoxicity test using somatic cell (IARC 57, 1993). Since no other appropriate in vivo test results are available, classification is not possible due to insufficient test results available. As additional background information, C.I. Acid Red 114 induced a positive response in a reverse mutation test using Salmonella typhimurium (IARC 57, 1993).
6 Carcinogenicity Category 2 Warning H351: Suspected of causing cancer P308+P313: IF exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention.
P201: Obtain special instructions before use.
P202: Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood.
P281: Use personal protective equipment as required.
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Since C.I. Acid Red 114 (CAS: 6459-94-5) is rated as "2B" by both the IARC and the Japan Society for Occupational Health, it was classified into Category 2.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Category 2 (kidney, lymph node, pancreas) Warning H373: May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (kidney, lymph node, pancreas) P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P314: Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
In the study in which C.I. Acid Red 114 (CAS: 6459-94-5) was administered to female and male rats in drinking water for 13 weeks, the following were observed: karyomegaly and regeneration of tubule epithelial cells in females, and centrilobular pallor in the liver, pigmentation, reticulum cellular hyperplasia of the mesenteric lymph node, and degeneration of pancreatic acinar cells in males (NTP TR 405, 1991). Based on this report, we determined that the kidney, lymph node, and pancreas are target organs. Since these effects were seen at doses that fall under Category 2, C.I. Acid Red 114 (CAS: 6459-94-5) is classified into Category 2 for the kidney, lymph node, and pancreas.
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
