P270: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.

Among four rat LD50 values of 200, 565 mg/kg bw (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)), 330 mg/kg (RTECS (2006)), and 284 mg/kg (SITTIG (5th, 2008)), two are in the range of Category 3, and two Category 4. The higher Category 3 was adopted.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - - It is documented that its rat LD50 = 909 mg/kg bw (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)), and its rat LDLo > 2000 mg/kg bw (RTECS (2006)). However, since there is no sufficient data available, the substance was classified into "Classification not possible".
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - - Solid (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible - - - - It is documented that its rat LC value = > 90 mg/m3/4h (RTECS (2006)). However, since there is no sufficient data available, the substance was classified into "Classification not possible".
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Not classified - - - - Based on results that in rats or rabbits, the substance did not cause irritation (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)), and neither irritative nor other reactions were found on humans (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)), the substance was classified into "Not classified".
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - - It is reported that in a test using rats and rabbits, the substance did not cause irritation, or only caused slight conjunctivitis (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)). However, since there is no sufficient data available, the substance was classified into "Classification not possible".
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - It is reported that a micronucleous test on mice only resulted in a weak clastogenic effect (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)). However, there is no other in vivo test data or multi-index in vitro mutagenicity test results available, and classification is not possible. As relevant information, as for in vitro tests, in an Ames test, some strains showed positive results (NTP DB (accessed in September 2008)).
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - It is reported that subcutaneous administration to mice and rats showed oncogenicity in the administered sites (RTECS (accessed in September 2008)). However, since there is no other data available, classification is not possible.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 1 (hematopoietic system) Danger H370: Causes damage to organs (hematopoietic system) P307+P311: IF exposed: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P270: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
In an oral administration test using rats, a dose of 330 mg/kg which falls under the Category 2 guidance values (and is equivalent to the LD50 value) was reported to cause anemia (RTECS (2005)). In an inhalation exposure test using rats (four hours), at the dose of 0.03 mg/L, which is equivalent to the guidance value of Category 1, an increase of the methemoglobin value to 15.4% was found (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)). In an oral administration test using rats, at the dose of 0.03 mg/L, which is equivalent to the guidance value of Category 1, an increase of the methemoglobin value to 38.5% was found (GESTIS (accessed in September 2008)). Therefore, the substance was classified into Category 1 (hematopoietic system).
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - - It is reported that in a rat 13-week oral administration test, changes in erythrocyte count and leukocyte count were found (RTECS (2006)). However, since there is no sufficient data available, the substance was classified into "Classification not possible".
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
