PHYSICAL HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Explosives Classification not possible - - - - The substance contains unsaturated C-C bonds, and its oxygen balance is -186, which is higher than the -200 threshold. Nevertheless, since its exothermic decomposition energy is unknown, classification is not possible.
2 Flammable gases (including chemically unstable gases) Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
3 Aerosols Not applicable - - - - Not aerosol products.
4 Oxidizing gases Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
5 Gases under pressure Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
6 Flammable liquids Not classified - - - - Its flash point is above 93degC.
7 Flammable solid Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
8 Self-reactive substances and mixtures Classification not possible - - - - An acrylic group is considered to be an unsaturated bond. Classification not possible due to lack of data.
9 Pyrophoric liquids Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
10 Pyrophoric solids Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Classification not possible - - - - Test methods applicable to liquid substances are not available.
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Not applicable - - - - The chemical structure of the substance does not contain metals or metalloids (B, Si, P, Ge, As, Se, Sn, Sb, Te, Bi, Po, At).
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable - - - - The substance contains oxygen (but not fluorine or chlorine) which is chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen.
14 Oxidizing solids Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable - - - - Organic compounds containing no bivalent -O-O- structure in the molecule
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible - - - - No data available.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Not classified - - - - Since its rat LD50 = 3300 mg/kg (RTECS (2007)), the substance was classified into the "Not classified" category using the JIS classification criteria (Category 5 in the United Nations classification).
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Skin sensitization Category 1 Warning H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P333+P313: If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.
P261: Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P272: Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P363: Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
It is reported that contact dermatitis and sensitization, as an allergic reaction to ethylene dimethacrylate, were detected in 8 of 9 technicians who handle dental material containing ethylene dimethacrylate (DFGOT vol. 13 (1999)). Also, sensitization reactions were observed in 11% of 82 workers who handled acrylic resin that contains ethylene dimethacrylate (DFGOT vol. 13 (1999)). In addition, there are several sensitization cases documented, and it is rated as Xi; R43 by the EU and Sh in the MAK chart of Germany's DFG. Taking these reports into consideration, the substance was classified into Category 1.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - Since there are no in vivo mutagenicity test results available, or no positive results in in vitro mutagenicity tests using several indices, classification is not possible. Regarding in vitro mutagenicity tests, Ames tests gave negative results (HSDB (2002)) while mouse lymphoma assays yielded both negative and positive results (HSDB (2002)).
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
