In a rat acute oral toxicity test there are reports that lethargy and mortality were observed at 215 or 464 mg/kg and higher dose levels which are within the guidance value range for Category 1 or Category 2, respectively, (HSDB (2003)). In a rat acute inhalation test, observed depression persisted up to 24-hour post-exposure following exposure at 6.3 mg/L/1h (3.2 mg/L/4h). The exposure level is within the guidance value range for Category 1, (HSDB (2003)). Additionally, there is a report of CNS depression as toxicity of the substance (DHP (13th, 2002)). Although above information correspond to Category 1 (central nervous system), it was classified into Category 2 (central nervous system) because of information in List 2. Additional reports report that exposure to vapours produced respiratory tract irritation in rats (HSDB (2003)) and that mucous membrane irritation and chest discomfort occur during human exposure (PATTY (5th, 2001)).
