In a test (Directive 84/449/EEC, B4) where the substance (stock solution) was applied to the skin of 6 rabbits for 4-hour, skin reactions developed within 1-hour after application (average erythema and edema Draize scores were 1.3 and 1.7, respectively). The effects were resolved between 2 to 7 days. 3 rabbits showed necrosis at the application site between Days 1 and 7, desquamation was found in 4 animals on Day 7 (SIDS (access on Aug. 2008)). The results indicated that the erythema, edema and necrosis which developed following application showed recovery or a trend of recovery within 7 days. Based on the data, the substance was classified into Category 2. In another rabbit test, there is a result of "not irritating" (SIDS (access on Aug. 2008)). In EU classification, the substance is classified into R34 (EU-Annex I (access on Aug. 2008)). | |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 2B | - | Warning | H320: Causes eye irritation |
P305+P351+P338: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. P337+P313: If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention. P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling. |
In a rabbit eye irritation test, reversible chemosis (Draize scores of 2 - 3), iritis (Draize score of 1) and corneal opacity (Draize score of 1) were observed. No injury was observed in any of the animals after 7 days (SIDS (access on Aug. 2008)). Based on the report, the substance was classified into Category 2B. |
