In the 2-year oral gavage study in rats (dose levels: 0, 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg/day), increases in the activity of GPT (ALT) and gamma-GTP which was accompanied by hepatic lesions containing hepatocellular necrosis, fibrosis, cytologic degeneration and increased severity of bile duct hyperplasia were observed in both sexes at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg/day. And, increase in the incidence of nephropathy was noted in both sexes of the treatment group at the doses corresponding to Category 2 (NTP TR 422 (1993)). Based on the information, the substance was classified as Category 2 (liver, kidney).
