In the rabbit test (OECD TG404), 4-hour application of 0.5 mL of the substance caused necrosis of epithelium in 2 of 3 animals after 1 and 2 days after application, and individual average scores of erythema was 4 (necrosis of epithelium after 3 days), 4 (necrosis of epithelium after 3 days) and 3, and of edema was 4, 4 and 2.7 (ECETOC TR (1995)). However, reversibility was observed and only eschar remained during observation period after application (ECETOC TR (1995)). Therefore, the substance was classified as Category 2.
