1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Category 4 Warning H302: Harmful if swallowed P301+P312: IF SWALLOWED: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P270: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
P330: Rinse mouth.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Based on the rat LD50 value of 400 mg/kg (PATTY, 5th (2001)), the substance was classified as Category 4.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Category 3 Danger H311: Toxic in contact with skin P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P312: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
P322: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P361: Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.
P363: Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Based on the guinea pig LD50 value of 1000 mg/kg (HSDB (2002)), the substance was classified as Category 3.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - - It was reported that 2-hour exposure for rats at the saturated vapor pressure concentration (2500 ppm (12.4 mg/L)) (converted value as that of 4-hour exposure: 8.77 mg/L) caused deaths in 3 of the 3 animals (PATTY, 5th (2001)). Since the report did not provide the basis for classification, the substance was classified as "Classification not possible".
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data were available. As relevant notes, the substance was reported as strongly alkaline for its pH (GESTIS (Access on Sep. 2010)).
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - - No data were available. As relevant notes, the substance was reported as strongly alkaline for its pH (GESTIS (Access on Sep. 2010)).
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.

5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Classification not possible - - - - It was described that the substance caused symptoms resembling those observed with pyridine (HSDB (2002)), but the classification was not possible due to lack of sufficient data.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Category 1 (central nervous system) Danger H372: Cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (central nervous system) P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.

P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
It was reported that chronic exposure to the dust of the crude mixture containing the substance produced severe disturbances of central nervous system in two men and both men recovered gradually after discontinuing exposure and that disturbance of the central nervous system would be the main physiological actions following overexposure to dimethyl- and trimethylpyridines (PATTY, 5th (2001)). It was also reported that exposure to the crude mixture containing the substance produced loss of consciousness, facial paralysis, anisocoria and ataxia in one man, and headache, right-sided facial paralysis, anisocoria, left-sided abducens palsy in another man (HSDB (2002)). Based on the information described above, the substance was classified as Category 1 (central nervous system).
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
