From symptoms of weakness and ataxia after oral administration of 5000 mg/kg in rats (IUCLID (2000)) and symptoms of lethargy and decreased auricular and orientation reflexes by inhalation exposure of 1000 ppm to rats (IUCLID (2000)), it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects).
Besides, exposure-related changes were not found in autopsy finding in all routes.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - In a 90-day vapour inhalation exposure test in rats, it was reported that decreased weight gains, lacrimation, and lethargy and changes in blood biochemical test results but no exposure-related pathological changes were found, and NOAEL was 1.49 mg/L/day (250 ppm) above the upper limit (1 mg/L/day) in a range of guidance values (HPVIS (2010)). Therefore, it corresponds to "Not classified" in an inhalation route.
And in a 28-day oral administration test in rats, an increase in serum enzymes (AST and SDH) and creatinine concentrations at a dose of 1000 mg/kg/day as the only effect (HPVIS (2010)) but no related histopathological findings were found. Accordingly, no serious toxic signs at 1000 mg/kg/day (converted to a 90-day equivalent value: 311 mg/kg/day) above the upper limit of a range of guidance values (100 mg/kg/day) as a result corresponds to "Not classified" in an oral route.
However, it was classified as "Classification not possible" in specific target organ toxicity (repeated exposures) because effects in the dermal administration were unknown due to lack of data.
