- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. As for in vivo, it was negative in micronucleus tests with peripheral blood erythrocytes of mice and rats (EHC 229 (2003)). As for in vitro, negative and positive results were mixed in bacterial reverse mutation tests (EHC 229 (2003), IARC 16 (1978), NTP DB (Access on June 2013), HSDB (Access on September 2013)). |

This substance is classified in "Car. Cat. 2; R 45" in EU DSD classification, and in "Carc. 1B H350" in EU CLP classification, and these were information sources in List 3. On the other hand, it is classified in Group 2B by IARC (IARC 16 (1978), Suppl. 7 (1987)) and 2B by the Japan Society for Occupational Health (JSOH) (Recommendation of Occupational Exposure Limits (Japan Society For Occupational Health (JSOH), 2012)), and these were information sources in List 1. It was classified in Category 2 based on the precedence of information sources. |

In a 78-week diet administration test with rats, males showed reduced weight gain and increased mortality from the dose (60 mg/kg/day) within the guidance value range for Category 2, but no non-neoplastic lesions were observed in either sex after exposure to the dose (120 mg/kg/day) above the upper limit of the guidance values (EHC 229 (2003), NTP TR118 (1978)). On the other hand, in a 78-week diet administration test with mice, effects on the liver (fatty metamorphosis) and kidney (calcification of the renal papilla) were found at the dose (80 mg/kg/day (decreased to 40 mg/kg/day in the middle)) within the guidance value range for Category 2 (EHC 229 (2003), NTP TR118 (1978)). Although effects on the liver and kidney were seen only in mice, not in rats, it was classified in Category 2 (liver, kidney) from the viewpoint of conducting hazard assessment on the safe side. |
