Based on a report of an LD50 value of 208 mg/kg for rats (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010), ACGIH (7th, 2001)), it was classified in Category 3. A new information source (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)) was added, and a low-priority information source was deleted, therefore, the text was reviewed. |

- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, although there was a report of an LD50 value of 662 mg/kg for rats (GESTIS (Access on July 2014), RTECS (2009), Chemical Substance Hazard Data (CERI, 2002)), they were low priority information sources (List 3), therefore, it was not adopted for classification. |

Based on a report of an LC50 value (4 hours) of 1,000 ppm for rats (ACGIH (7th, 2001)), it was classified in Category 3. Besides, the LC50 value was lower than 90% of the saturated vapor concentration (24,679 ppm), the reference value in units of ppm was applied as a vapour without a mist. Besides, there were reports of LC50 values (1 hour) of >747 ppm (converted 4-hour equivalent value: >374 ppm) (ACGIH (7th, 2001)) and 660 ppm (converted 4-hour equivalent value: 330 ppm) (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010), ACGIH (7th, 2001)) for rats, however, the 4-hour data was prioritized in the classification according to the GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government. The category was changed by adding a new information source (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)). |

Based on a report that it was corrosive when the undiluted liquid of this substance was applied to rabbits for 24 hours (HSDB (Access on June 2014)), and on a description that this substance was corrosive to the skin (ACGIH (7th, 2001), Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)), it was judged as Category 1. Besides, this substance was classified as "C; R35" in the EU DSD classification, and as "H314 Skin Corr. 1A" in the EU CLP classification. The category was changed by adding information. |

There is a description that in an eye irritation test in which 0.5 mL of the undiluted liquid of this substance was applied to rabbits for 5 or 30 seconds, it was corrosive and the irritation score was 110, the maximum value (HSDB (Access on June 2014)). In addition, since there are descriptions that this substance was corrosive to the eyes (ACGIH (7th, 2001), Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)) and that this substance induced lacrimation, and its vapor was very strongly irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract (ACGIH (7th, 2001)), it was classified in Category 1. The category was changed by adding information. |

This substance was corrosive and induced lacrimation, and in humans, it was corrosive and strongly irritating to the respiratory tract. It caused a burning sensation, abdominal pain, diarrhea and shock or collapse from oral ingestion, and cough, labored breathing, breathlessness, sore throat, burning sensation and cyanosis by inhalation. On inhalation of vapors or aerosols, pulmonary edema may be caused. The cardiovascular system may be affected. Other than these, dyspnea, effects on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiorespiratory arrest and promotion of ventricular arrhythmia were reported (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010), ACGIH (7th, 2001)). As for experimental animals, strong irritation to the respiratory tract was observed. Significant histopathological findings in mice were damage to the respiratory tract and lungs. In addition, shallow breathing, labored breathing, lethargy, salivation and congestion of the lung and nasal tissues were reported by inhalation exposure in rats (ACGIH (7th, 2001)). These findings were within the guidance value range corresponding to Category 1. From the above, it was classified in Category 1 (respiratory organs, cardiovascular system). |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 1 (respiratory organs) |
Danger |

P260
P264 P270 P314 P501 |
There were no hazardous findings in humans by repeated exposures. According to descriptions that in tests in which rats, mice, and hamsters were exposed to the vapor of this substance by inhalation for 4 weeks, irritation symptoms to the eye and respiratory organs were observed in all animal species at or above 0.5 ppm (2.3 mg/m3), and histopathological changes in the nasal cavity (inflammation, hypertrophy, hyperplasia and squamous metaplasia in the respiratory epithelium) were observed in rats and mice (hamsters were not examined histopathologically) (ACGIH (7th, 2001), Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.8, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)), it was classified in Category 1 (respiratory organs) since the effects on the respiratory organs were observed at or above the concentration corresponding to Category 1 (converted guidance value: 0.00071 mg/L/6 hours). |
