As for this substance, it was decided that the classification was conducted as total ammonia based on expert judgment. It was classified in Category 3 from 96-hour LC50 = 13.0 mg/L for fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (a converted value equivalent to total ammonia. test substance: NH4Cl, pH: 8.29) (Thurston et al., 1981). The classification result was changed from the previous classification by changing the view on which substance was targeted.

- - As for this substance, it was decided that the classification was conducted as total ammonia based on expert judgment. If chronic toxicity data are used, then it is classified as "Not classified" due to being rapidly degradable (rapidly nitrified in aquatic environment (SIDS, 2007)), and 32-day NOEC =3.47 mg/L for crustacea (Mysidopsis bahia) (a converted value equivalent to total ammonia. test substance: NH4Cl, pH: 7.92-8.01) (SIDS, 2007).
If acute toxicity data are used for a trophic level for which chronic toxicity data are not obtained (algae, fish), then it is classified as "Not classified" due to being rapidly degradable and a low bioaccumulation estimate (log Kow = -1.14 (SIDS, 2007)), despite 96-hour LC50 = 13.0 mg/L for fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (a converted value equivalent to total ammonia. test substance: NH4Cl, pH: 8.29) (Thurston et al., 1981).
From the above results, it was classified as "Not classified." The classification result was changed from the previous classification by changing the view on which substance was targeted and changing how to classify it in chronic toxicity.
