(1) In humans, there is a report that inhalation exposure to this substance may lead to severe irritation in the upper respiratory tract, throat spasms and lung edema. Additionally, there is a report that edema of the glottis, bronchospasm, bronchopneumonia and acute lung edema may occur (DFGOT vol.13 (1999)).
(2) In a single nasal inhalation exposure test with rats, by exposure for 30 minutes at 1,300 ppm (converted 4-hour equivalent value: 460 ppm, equivalent to Category 1), severe necrohemorrhagic rhinitis, showing the findings of necrosis extending from the nose mucosa to the submucosa and turbinate, blood vessel thrombosis and hemorrhage were observed. The presence of fibrin was also observed in the nasal discharge (ACGIH (7th, 2004)).

(1) In workers exposed to hydrobromic acid (CAS RN 10035-10-6), an aqueous solution of this substance, chronic upper and lower airway disorders (including anosmia, aphonia with nonspecific bronchial hyperreactivity), cough, shortness of breath, and progressive bronchiolitis obliterans were reported (PATTY (6th, 2012)).
(2) After long term exposure to this substance (no further details), irritation of the respiratory passages, digestive problems, slight changes in reflexes (no further details), effects on the sense of smell and a decrease in the erythrocyte count were reported (DFGOT vol.13 (1999)).
(3) After long term exposure to the vapour of this substance (no further details), decalcification of the teeth and changes in the gums were reported (DFGOT vol.13 (1999)).
