In the acute oral toxicity study in rats at the dose levels of 353 - 1116 mg/kg (LD50 value: 353 mg/kg), the following symptoms such as disturbance of motor coordination, decrease in muscle tonus, lateral position, tremors and clonic convulsion, etc. were reported as clinical signs after administration (BUA 248 (2003)). In the 28-day repeated dose oral toxicity study in rats (OECD TG407, GLP-compliant), neuronal dysfunction, coordination disturbances, decreased muscle tonus, loss of righting reflexes were observed at 56.2 mg/kg/day, some animals exhibited clonic convulsion. In addition, the following changes were observed at 178/215 mg/kg/day: significantly increased ALT, decreased albumin, and increased liver weights accompanied histopathologically by hepatocellular single cell necrosis with mononuclear inflammatory reaction (BUA 248 (2003)). Based on the information, it was reported that the target organs were considered to be the central nervous system and the liver (BUA 248 (2003)).
