In the acute oral toxicity study in rats (LD50 value: 811 mg/kg), treatment-related effects included hypoactivity and salivation at the dose levels of 521 mg/kg and above, and ataxia, clear ocular discharge and labored breathing at the dose levels of 750 mg/kg and above. There also were some clinical changes with low incidence such as staining around urogenital organs or nose, abnormal defecation, hypothermia. In the necropsy of dead animals, mat dark red or reddened adrenal glands, abnormalities in stomach, hemorrhagic thymus glands, and intestinal abnormalities (HSDB (2003)). Based on the findings above, although it was difficult to specify the target organ(s), the dose levels were involved within the range of Category 2 of the guidance values, therefore, the substance was classified as Category 2 (systemic toxicity). | FY2010 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
