---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on LD50 values of 8732 mg/kg, 9550 mg/kg (male) and 8670 mg/kg (female) for rats (HSDB (2002)), the substance was classified into "Not classified". | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a mortality of 1/10 at 14000 mg/kg in a rabbit test (HSDB (2002)), the substance was classified as "Not classified". | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) | Not classified (Not applicable) |
- |
- | - | Liquid (GHS definition) | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Since all rats died during 45-minute exposures at saturated vapour pressure concentration (47105 ppm; 196.8 mg/L) (4-hour equivalence: 85.2 mg/L/4h) (HSDB (2002)), the substance corresponds to "Not classified". Classification was not possible since determination of category was impossible. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a report that no indications of irritation were observed in any animal during 7-day post-treatment observation in a rabbit test by occluded dermal application for 4-hour (HSDB (2002)), the substance was classified as "Not classified". As relevant information, it is reported that one rabbit died at 7 days post-treatment but the mortality could not be related to treatment. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Not classified |
- |
- | - | In an eye irritation test using 6 rabbits, iritis and moderate conjunctival irritation with marked discharge were apparent in all treated eyes by 4-hour post-instillation, and 2/6 eyes appeared normal within 24-hour but the remaining 4/6 eyes displayed slight, persistent conjunctival redness. All eyes were clear of any sign of irritation by 48-hour post-instillation (HSDB (2002)). Since the mean scores are judged to be 0 for all reactions at 24, 48 and 72-hour after installation with the exception that the mean score for conjunctival redness was estimated to be 1 or less at 24-hour after installation, the substance was classified as "Not classified". | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
4 | Respiratory sensitization | Classification not possible |

- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
4 | Skin sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data from in vivo mutagenicity tests. From in vitro mutagenicity tests, there is a report of a negative Ames test (NTP DB (access on Aug. 2009)). | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |

- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | In rats, oral treatment was associated with sluggishness, prostration, and mortality at approximately 15 minutes to 3-hour post-dosing at dose levels of 11.3 mg/kg (10080 mg/kg) and higher but no toxic effects were observed at dose levels of 8.0 mL/kg (7136 mg/kg) and lower (HSDB (2002)). By percutaneous application of 16 mL/kg bw (14000 mg/kg) to rabbits, one female was emaciated at death, however, no signs of systemic toxicity were observed in the other rabbits (HSDB (2002)). When rats were exposed to saturated vapour (estimated concentration 197 mg/L) for 11.2, 22.5 and 45 minutes, clinical signs of toxicity included labored breathing, hypoactivity, slowed breathing, slow or negative surface righting reflex, and negative toe and tail pinch reflex. 9 of 10 rats died during 45-minute exposure. The LT50 was reported to be 35 - 32 minutes. (HSDB (2002)). Based on the data, the substance corresponds to "Not classified" with oral exposure since no toxicity was observed at dose level of 7136 mg/kg and lower. However, with dermal and inhalation routes, adverse effects including death were observed at a dose level exceeding the guidance value range with no data at a dose level near the cut-off value. Overall, classification was not possible. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Although there is information that no adverse symptoms were noted in workers exposed to 375 to 1500 ppm for several months (HSDB (2002)), classification was not possible since the details are unclear and the original literature can not be confirmed. |
