---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | There are 2 reports of LD50 values for rats of 4,100 mg/kg (ACGIH (7th, 2016)) and 3,200-6,400 mg/kg (DFGOT Vol. 19 (2003), CICAD 64 (2005), ACGIH (7th, 2016)). One corresponds to "Not classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification), and the other corresponds to "Not classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification) - "Not Classified." By adopting the category with higher hazard, it was classified as "Not classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification). The category was changed from the previous classification due to the revision of the GHS classification guidance for the Japanese Government. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a report of an LD50 value of > 2,000 mg/kg (ACGIH (7th, 2016)) for rabbits, it was classified as "Not classified." The category was changed from the previous classification due to use of a new information source. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) | Not classified (Not applicable) |
- |
- | - | Liquid (GHS definition) | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There is a report that in a 6-hour inhalation exposure test with rats, all the animals survived at 3,500 ppm (converted 4-hour equivalent value: 4,287 ppm) (DFGOT vol. 19 (2003), CICAD 64 (2005), ACGIH (7th, 2016)), however, since it is not possible to identify the category from this result alone, it was classified as "Classification not possible." Besides, since the exposure concentration was lower than 90% of the saturated vapor pressure concentration (13,198 ppm), a reference value in the unit of ppm was applied as vapour with little mist. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | There is a report that in a 4-hour inhalation exposure test with rats, all the animals died at 116 mg/L (24,360 ppm) exceeding the guidance value range of Category 4 (DFGOT vol. 19 (2003), CICAD 64 (2005), ACGIH (7th, 2016)). However, since it is not possible to identify the category from this result alone, it was classified as "Classification not possible." Besides, since the exposure concentration was lower than the saturated vapor pressure concentration (13,198 ppm), a reference value in the unit of mg/L was applied as mist. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

Based on a description that this substance is irritating to the skin (HSDB (Access on August 2017)), it was classified in Category 2. The category was changed from the previous classification due to the revision of the GHS classification guidance for the Japanese Government. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

Warning |
H319 | P305+P351+P338 P337+P313 P264 P280 |
Based on descriptions that the liquid and the vapor of this substance were irritating to the eyes, and that in an eye irritation test with rabbits, butyl acetate (no description on the form of the isomers) caused a reversible damage of Grade 5 (highest grade 10) (both in PATTY (6th, 2012) and HSDB (Access on August 2017)), it was classified in Category 2. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

There is a description that the vapor of this substance is irritating to the nose and throat (PATTY (6th, 2012), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). In addition, there is a report that in humans, nasal and eye irritation, headache and weakness were observed by inhalation exposure to this substance at 950 ppm for 30 minutes (PATTY (6th, 2012), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). While there is a report that anesthetic effects were not observed in humans even in inhalation exposure to 400-700 ppm of this substance for 2-3 hours (PATTY (6th, 2012), HSDB (Access on August 2017)), there is a report that severe overexposure may cause weakness, drowsiness, and unconsciousness (PATTY (6th, 2012), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). From the above, it was classified in Category 3 (respiratory tract irritation, narcotic effects). As for effects on the central nervous system, in the previous classification, it was classified in Category 2 (central nervous system) and Category 3 (narcotic effects), however, since the effects were reversible, only Category 3 (narcotic effects) was adopted. Therefore, the classification result was changed from the previous classification. | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. As for humans, there are descriptions that no reports are available for adverse effects on industrial workers (ACGIH (7th, 2001)), and that there are no reports of chronic systemic effects in humans (PATTY (6th, 2012)). As for experimental animals, no data on this substance were obtained. |
