1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | From an LD50 value of 4600 mg/kg for rats (JECFA Monograph 48 (2002)), it was classified as "Not classified" in JIS classification (corresponding to Category 5 in UN GHS classification). | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | From an LC50 value of 18000 ppm/7h [converted to a 4-hour equivalent value: 23814 ppm/4h] for mice (PATTY (5th, 2001)), it was classified as "Not classified." Besides, a reference value of gasses was applied because the test concentration is lower than 90 % of the saturated vapour pressure concentration. |

Anesthesia was reported in a test exposed up to an extremely high concentration of 153000 ppm to guinea pigs and mice. (PATTY (5th, 2001)) On the other hand, there is the information that this substance has a narcotic action (PATTY (5th, 2001)). From the above, it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects). Furthermore, on the basis that a definite evidence of irritation including squinting, sneezing, and nasal discharge, and respiratory tract irritation noted at a low dose were reported in the above guinea pig test (PATTY (5th, 2001)), it was classified in Category 3 (respiratory tract irritation). |

9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Lack of data. Besides, only minor irritation was observed although the lack of coordination at a concentration of 11000 ppm was shown in an inhalation test exposed for 7 hours/time for 15 times to mice. And in a 22-day exposure of 14000 ppm, six out of 50 animals died, and the strong evidence of irritation and a narcotic action was observed. (PATTY (5th, 2001)) But other specific systemic effects in repeated exposure were not described. |
