- - In the reproductive toxicity screening test (OECD TG421) in rats by oral administration from 2 weeks before mating to post-delivery day 3, treatment-related death was found at high dose (1,000 mg/kg). Abnormal findings in the histopathological examination such as atrophy of seminiferous tubule in the testis were observed in males of the 300 mg/kg group, thus, treatment-related effect on fertility was suggested from these findings. However, there were no treatment-related adverse effects on the mean duration of estrus cycle and copulation. All dams delivered normally, and reproduction indices such as the pregnancy, delivery and the birth revealed no treatment-related influence. And, there were no treatment-related effects on the viability of offspring, state of the offspring at post delivery day 0 and day 4 ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Aug. 2010)). Therefore, no effects on sexual functions and fertility of parental animals were observed.
