1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" based on reports on LD50 values for rats of > 5,000 mg/kg (PATTY (6th, 2012)), > 20,000 mg/kg, and 26,975 mg/kg (SIDS (2007)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" based on LD50 values for rabbits of > 5,000 mg/kg (PATTY (6th, 2012)), 5,847 mg/kg, and 8,000 mg/kg (SIDS (2007)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, there is a report on an LC50 value (4 hours) of > 0.375 mg/L for rats (SIDS (2007)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Category 2 |
Warning |
H315 | P302+P352 P332+P313 P362+P364 P264 P280 P321 |
It is described in SIDS (2007) that in a test in which a 50% solution of this substance (in a 1% solution of gum tragacanth) was applied to the skin of rabbits for 24 hours, the average erythema scores at 24, 48, 72 hours after application were 2.43 for intact skin and 2.53 for abraded skin, and the average edema scores were 1.83 for intact skin and 3.26 for abraded skin. Other than this, it is reported in SIDS (2007) that this substance was not irritating in a test in which 20 male and female volunteers were given a 4-hour semi-occlusive application of undiluted this substance. However, the animal test results with positive responses were prioritized, and it was classified in Category 2. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 2B |
Warning |
H320 | P305+P351+P338 P337+P313 P264 |
It is described that in a test on undiluted this substance according to OECD TG 405, it was moderately irritating (score after 24 hours: 27.3), but the symptoms were reversible within seven days (SIDS (2007)), and it was reported to be slightly irritating (PATTY (6th, 2012)). Therefore, it was classified in Category 2B. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
4 | Respiratory sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
4 | Skin sensitization | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" because it is reported in SIDS (2007) that it was negative in a test with guinea pigs according to OECD TG 406. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There are no in vivo or in vitro test data on this substance. Besides, it is described in ECHA (Access on December 2013) that it was negative in a bacterial reverse mutation test (ECHA (Access on December 2013)). Furthermore, in SIDS (2007), a category of long-chain aliphatic alcohols including this substance was assessed, and it is described that the category was not mutagenic. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, neither parental toxicity nor reproductive toxicity was observed in a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats (IUCLID (2000)). However, because it is a screening test, it was classified as "Classification not possible" due to lack of data. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, in oral administration test with rats, hypoactivity, diarrhea, hypersalivation, diuresis, ocular porphyrin deposits, and emaciation were observed at the doses (7.26-20 g/kg) above the guidance value range (SIDS (2007)). No effects were seen in rats by inhalation exposure (1 hour, dust) at the dose (1.5 mg/L: converted 4-hour equivalent value: 0.375 mg/L) within the guidance value range (SIDS (2007)). It is reported that after dermal exposure (2-8 g/kg) to rabbits, the animals showed weakness, emaciation, etc., which were reversible (SIDS (2007)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
10 | Aspiration hazard | Classification not possible |
- |
