8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 2 (systemic) |
Warning |
H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
In an acute oral toxicity test in rats (an LD50 value: 920 mg/kg), most deaths were observed on day 3 to 4. Observed toxic signs were a loss of appetite, weakness, salivation, tremors, and dyspnea, and necropsy findings of liver discoloration, renal congestion, and hemorrhage in the lungs (USEPA/HPV (2006)). But, it was classified in Category 2 (systemic toxicity) due to not possible to specify target organs. |

11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Short term (Acute) | Category 1 |
Warning |
H400 | P273 P391 P501 |
It was classified in Category 1 from 48-hour EC50 = 0.12 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) and so on (Results of Eco-toxicity tests of chemicals conducted by Ministry of the Environment in Japan, 2006). | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Long term (Chronic) | Category 1 |
Warning |
H410 | P273 P391 P501 |
If chronic toxicity data are used, then it is classified in Category 2 from non-rapidly degradable (a degradation rate by BOD: -6 to -7 % (the existing chemicals survey program, 2005)) and 72-hour NOEC = 0.16 mg/L for algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) (Results of Eco-toxicity tests of chemicals conducted by Ministry of the Environment in Japan, 2006). If acute toxicity data are used for trophic levels for which chronic toxicity data are lacking, then it is classified in Category 1 from non-rapidly degradable (a degradation rate by BOD: -6 to -7 % (the existing chemicals survey program, 2005)) and 48-hour EC50 = 0.12 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (Results of Eco-toxicity tests of chemicals conducted by Ministry of the Environment in Japan, 2006). It was classified in Category 1 by a comparison between the above results. |
