- - In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats (OECD TG 422; GLP), in the high dose group (700 mg/kg/day), parent animals showed toxic signs (such as wheezing, abdominal distention, emaciation, and decreased spontaneous movement), reduced weight gain, and decreased food consumption, and two females died or were killed in a moribund condition. At the dose, no effects of treatment of the test substance were observed in reproductive parameters such as estrous cycle, copulation index, fertility index, gestation length, gestation index, the number of corpus lutea, implantation index, delivery index, and as effects on pups, tendencies toward low body weights in males and females and toward low viability on day 4 were found, but there were no treatment-related effects on developmental parameters such as the number of live borns, the number of stillborn, live birth index, sex ratio, or no pups with external anomalies (JECDB (Access on Aug. 2012)). From the above results, no adverse effects were observed on sexual function and fertility, but as for effects on the development of offspring, there are no data on examination of fetuses before deliveries, therefore it was classified as "Classification not possible" due to lack of data. - - In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats (OECD TG 422; GLP), the groups at or above 350 mg/kg (converted guidance value: about 175 mg/kg/day) showed hyperplasia of mucosa at the limiting ridge and atrophy of mucosa in the cardiac region in the stomach, and the 700 mg/kg dose group (converted guidance value: about 350 mg/kg/day) showed erosion and superficial hemorrhage in the glandular stomach, wheezing, soft feces, abdominal distention, etc. And there were reduced weight gain, decreased food consumption, and changes in some blood or blood chemistry tests in males, one female died, and one female was killed in a moribund condition (JECDB (Access on Aug. 2012)). From the above, because the doses where effects were observed exceeded the upper limit of the guidance value range, and the stomach findings were judged as local effects of oral administration (because this substance is corrosive/irritating), they were not used for classification. Therefore, it is estimated to correspond to "Not classified" in oral administration.
