[Rationale for the Classification]
Based on (1) and (2), it was classified in Category 1 (cardiovascular system), Category 3 (narcotic effects, respiratory tract irritation). The classification result was changed from the previous classification due to the use of new information sources.

[Evidence Data]
(1) In a test on 10 subjects, by inhalation exposure of 2,300-21,000 ppm for 15-60 seconds, a significant reduction of the ventilatory lung capacity and cardiac disfunction such as bradycardia and changes in heart rate were observed, with one subject of atrioventricular block (EHC 113 (1990), GESTIS (Access on October 2019)).
(2) In an inhalation exposure test with experimental animals, slight respiratory tract irritation was observed at about 10,000 ppm (Category 2), and narcotic effects were observed at or above 100,000 ppm (exceeding Category 2) (GESTIS (Access on October 2019)).

[Reference Data, etc.]
(3) This substance is a mixture of 1,2-dichlorotetrafluoroethane (CAS RN 76-14-2) and 1,1-dichlorotetrafluoroethane (CAS RN 374-07-2). In EHC 113 (1990), it is described that 1,1-dichlorotetrafluoroethane was usually contained at no more than 7-10%.

9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Not classified
-
-
- - [Rationale for the Classification]
Based on (1), since no toxic effects were observed in an inhalation exposure test with experimental animals, it was classified as "Not classified."

[Evidence Data]
(1) In a toxicity test in which dogs were exposed by inhalation to this substance at 5,000 ppm for 90 days (6 hours/day), no toxic effects were observed. No toxic effects were also observed in rats under similar conditions (GESTIS (Access on October 2019)).
