A primary document (Food Chem Toxicol.22 (1984)) of the study with mice published in JECFA (2001) was acquired for the thorough review and found a description as follows, "Significant body weight reduction with fetuses, significant increase in external surface abnormalities such as cleft palates, significant decrease in the number of live fetuses and significant increase of skeletal abnormalities such as fusion of vertebral arch and vertebra were observed at the dose level where suppression of body weight, increase in weight of the liver, heart, lien and kidney can be observed."
