6 | Carcinogenicity | Category 1A |
Danger |
H350 | P308+P313 P201 P202 P280 P405 P501 |
There is no information on human carcinogenicity of this substance itself. However, because this substance belongs to crystalline silica (IARC 100C (2012), CICAD 24 (2000)), it is estimated to have carcinogenicity equivalent to that of crystalline silica. Therefore, this substance was classified in Category 1A in this hazard class. Besides, it is written that while a dosed group in a single intrapleural injection of this substance 20 mg/body and observation for a life span in rats had an average survival of 525 days and showed malignant lymphomas of a histiocytic type in 16 (16/32), a control group had an average survival of 717 days and did not show tumors of the such type (0/32) (IARC 68 (1997), ACGIH (7th, 2006)). |

8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. | FY2015 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 1 (respiratory organs) |
Danger |
H372 | P260 P264 P270 P314 P501 |
Data for humans were not obtained. Data on repeated dose toxicity in experimental animals were not obtained. However, it is thought that this substance which is the same crystalline silica as quartz has the similar effects on respiratory organs as quartz. Therefore, this substance was classified in Category 1 (respiratory organs). |
