There is description that this substance is irritating to the respiratory tract (HSDB (Access on August 2017)). As for experimental animals, there is a report that in a single oral dose test with rats, dyspnea, sedation and lack of appetite were found at 100 mg/kg, and at 464 mg/kg, in addition to these symptoms, hyporeflexia, ataxia, tremors, reduced muscle tone, squatting position, and reduced locomotor activity were observed. It is reported that all the animals survived and also in autopsy, no abnormal findings were observed. However, it is reported that all the animals died within 24 hours at 1,000 mg/kg and on autopsy, edema and hemorrhage in the gastrointestinal tract wall, and hemorrhage in the liver were observed (HSDB (Access on August 2017)). From the above, this substance was classified in Category 2 (central nervous system), Category 3 (respiratory tract irritation, narcotic effects). In the previous classification, it was classified in Category 2 (respiratory system) based on the description that this substance is corrosive to the airways and may cause pulmonary edemas (ICSC (J) (1995), SITTIG (4th, 2002), HSFS (1999)). In humans, there is no information on this substance. However, there is a report of lesions in bones related to fluorosis due to occupational exposure to inorganic fluoride in ACGIH's "FLUORIDES" (ACGIH (7th, 2001)). In addition, for fluorides, both beneficial and detrimental dental and skeletal effects have been observed in humans. Fluoride has been shown to decrease the prevalence of dental caries and, under certain conditions, has been used for the treatment of osteoporosis. However, it is described that excess fluoride can also result in dental fluorosis and can result in an increased prevalence of bone fractures in the elderly or patients with skeletal fluorosis (ATSDR (2003)).
