1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on the LD50 value of 4,800 mg/kg for rats (Screening Assessment for the Challenge (Environment Canada & Health Canada, 2010)), the substance was classified as "Not Classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification). | FY2016 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There are no in vivo data. As for in vitro data, a bacterial reverse mutation test and an in vitro mammalian cell chromosomal aberration test were negative and equivocal, respectively (JECDB (Access on November 2016)). |

6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |

7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | In a reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test by oral route using rats(OECD TG 421), 2 out of 12 females in the high dose group (300 mg/kg/day) died at the end of pregnancy and decreased weight gains, soft feces and paleness of the skins, etc., were observed in surviving rats (JECDB (Access on November 2016)). A low-value tendency for delivery index, numbers of pups born, a live birth index and viability index on Day 4 after birth were observed in offspring in the 300 mg/kg/day dose group (JECDB (Access on November 2016)). However, it was inadequate to adopt these results as evidence of classification for effects on offspring, because the findings were observed at the dose where more than 10% of female parental animals died. Other than these results, no data were available for the classification, accordingly, it was classified as "Classification not possible" due to lack of data. | FY2016 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. | FY2016 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 2 (liver, blood coagulation system) |
Warning |
H373 | P260 P314 P501 |
No data available for humans. As for experimental animals, in a 28-day repeated dose toxicity study using rats given by gavage, prolonged prothrombin and activated partial thromboplastin times, an increase in total cholesterol, watery contents in the cecum and an increase in relative liver weights were observed at not lower than 60 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 18.7 mg/kg/day), which is equivalent to Category 2 (JECDB (Access on November 2016)). Moreover, at 250 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 77.8 mg/kg/day), soft stool, a decrease in urine pH, an increase in total bilirubin, an increase in the amount of AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea nitrogen, a decrease in the amount of potassium and inorganic phosphorus, an increase in the amount of alpha-1globulin fraction and creatinine, an increase in absolute liver weight and centrilobular hypertrophy of hepatocytes were observed (JECDB (Access on November 2016)). As described above, the substance was classified in Category 2 (liver, blood coagulation system) because effects mainly on the liver were observed and in addition to that, effects on the blood coagulation system were observed at the dose equivalent to Category 2. |
