On the basis that an acute oral toxicity test in rats (an LD50 value was 178 mg/kg) reported depression of the central nervous system with unconsciousness (IARC 11 (1976)), it was classified in Category 1 (central nervous system).
And on the basis that an acute inhalation toxicity test in rats (an LC50 value was 2.1 to 3.5 mg/L/4h) reported irritation to mucous membrane, congestion, edema, and hemorrhage in the lungs, it was classified in Category 1 (lung).
