1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Category 3 |
Danger |
H301 | P301+P310 P264 P270 P321 P330 P405 P501 |
Based on a LD50 value of 200 mg/kg for rats (PATTY (5th, 2001)), the substance was classified into Category 3. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Category 3 |
Danger |
H311 | P302+P352 P361+P364 P280 P312 P321 P405 P501 |
Based on a LD50 value of 500 mg/kg for guinea pigs (PATTY (5th, 2001)), the substance was classified into Category 3. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Animal study data are not available. Although a fatal case resulting from an accident at a chemical plant has been reported (ACGIH (7th, 2001)), the assumable exposure routes includes inhalation of vapor and dermal absorption. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |

- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Although there is a report that "The substance is a strong base and would be expected to be mild-to-moderate dermal irritants" (PATTY (5th, 2001)), the classification is not possible from this information alone and classification was not possible due to lack of data. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |

Danger |
H370 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P321 P405 P501 |
There is a case report of a chemical operator who spilled the substance during distillation in a chemical plant. The operator developed dizziness, headache, respiratory distress, and convulsions that progressed to death (ACGIH (2001)). In a second serious case, the exposed individual's symptoms included severe headaches and weakness followed by convulsions and a stuporous state that lasted several days (PATTY (4th, 1994)). In the clinical setting, 1 mg/kg administered IV in postoperative patients resulted in restlessness, confusion (seizures) and central nervous system excitation during the recovery period (HSDB (2009)). Based on the data, the substance was classified into Category 1 (central nervous system). | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
