This substance has been used as a medicine of a skeletal muscle relaxant (central nervous system depressant), and it is described that administration may cause decreases in attention, concentration, reflex motor ability, etc., and drowsiness (the package insert for Methocarbamol Granules). It is reported as the information on humans that one adult who ingested 22-30 g of this substance developed extreme drowsiness, but recovered by symptomatic treatment, and another adult survived after ingesting 30-50 g, and the principal symptom was drowsiness (HSDB (2008)). And it is described that administration to normal animals reduces spontaneous activity and decreases skeletal muscle tone, and large doses cause central nervous system depression and transient flaccid paralysis (HSDB (2008)).
