H300 | P301+P310 P264 P270 P321 P330 P405 P501 |
From an LD50 value of 2 mg/kg bw for rats (HSDB (2007)), it was classified in Category 1. | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Lack of data. Besides, even in original literature, details of a reported LD50 value of 24 mg/kg bw for rats (GESTIS (Access on Dec. 2011)) from List 3 are unknown. |

H330 | P304+P340 P403+P233 P260 P271 P284 P310 P320 P405 P501 |
From an LC50 value of 1 ppm/7h (= 1.32 ppm/4h) for rats in a 7-hour exposure (HSDB (2007)), it was classified in Category 1. Besides, a reference value of gasses as a vapour with hardly included mist was applied because the LC50 value (1 ppm) is lower than 90 % of the saturated vapour pressure concentration (14342 ppm). |

H370 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P321 P405 P501 |
This substance is known as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and a potent methylating agent (HSDB (2007)). Extremely toxic as an LC50 value (vapour) of 1.0 to 1.2 ppm (converted to a 4-hour equivalent: 0.0053 to 0.0064 mg/L) for rats in a 7-hour inhalation exposure (vapour) and the main symptoms caused by the acetylcholinesterase inhibition before deaths were reported. (RTECS (2009): original literature American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal (1979)) The information that inhalation in humans may be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation and edema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis, and pulmonary edema (HSDB (2007)) indicates effects on the respiratory system as a methylating agent. The above information from List 2 corresponds to Category 2, but it was classified in Category 1 (nervous system, respiratory system) by the expert judgment. |

9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 1 (nervous system) |
Danger |
H372 | P260 P264 P270 P314 P501 |
Severe clinical signs by exposure of this substance known as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and a potent methylating agent to humans include muscle fasciculation, weakness, respiratory failure, central nervous system depression, confusion, delirium, and coma (HSDB (2007)). The above information from List 2 corresponds to Category 2, but it was classified in Category 1 (nervous system) by the expert judgment. Besides, as animal tests, 3-month inhalation exposure (vapour) to rats at low concentrations of 20 or 100 ppb (seven hours/day, five days/week) reported no adverse effects except significantly decreased cholinesterase in red blood cell and brain at 100 ppb (RTECS (2009): original literature American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal (1979)). |
