1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | There is a report on four LD50 values for rats of 1,300 mg/kg (males and females), > 2,000 mg/kg (males), 2,820 mg/kg (females), and 2,040 mg/kg (EU-RAR (2008)). It was classified as "Not classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification) to which the most values corresponded. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

There is a report on LD50 values of > 2,000 mg/kg for rats and > 1,600 mg/kg for rabbits (EU-RAR (2008)). It was classified in Category 4 to which the minimum LD50 value corresponded. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, it is reported that there was no death case in a 1-hour inhalation test with rats at 0.099 mg/L (converted 4-hour equivalent value: 0.0325-0.0495 mg/L (3.93-4.13*10-4 ppm)) (EU-RAR (2008)), but the category cannot be determined. Because the test concentration is lower than 90% of the saturated vapour pressure concentration (0.78-0.82 mg/L), a reference value in the unit of ppm was applied as vapour with little mist. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

There is a report on several skin irritation tests (according to OECD TG 404) with rabbits in EU-RAR (2008), and it is described that in a test in which this substance (purity: 100%) was applied semi-occlusively for 4 hours, the average scores after 72 hours were 3.0 for erythema and 3.0 for edema, erythema and edema disappeared within seven days, but scarring persisted after 21 days, and the substance was judged to be corrosive in EU-RAR (2008). Therefore, it was classified in Category 1. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 1 |
Danger |
H318 | P305+P351+P338 P280 P310 |
Although the information on eye irritation of this substance was not obtained, because this substance is corrosive to the skin, it was classified in Category 1. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

4 | Skin sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. It is described in EU-RAR (2008) that positive response was observed in 2 out of 10 animals in a maximization test with guinea pigs. However, it was classified as "Classification not possible" because the decision cannot be made on the test results alone. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There are no in vivo data, and as for in vitro, it was negative in a bacterial reverse mutation test (EU-RAR (2008), HPVIS (Access on December 2013)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

It is described that after gavage administration (500-2,000 mg/kg) to rats, apathia, irregular postures, uncoordinated movements, reduced reflexes, cyanosis, salivation, piloerection, etc. were observed at all doses, and the symptoms persisted seven days after the dose (EU-RAR (2008)). And an irritation of the muzzle was found after inhalation exposure in rats (vapour, 0.0325-0.0495 mg/L (converted 4-hour equivalent value)) (EU-RAR (2008)). Furthermore, after dermal exposure in rats, hunched posture, abnormal gait, lethargy, and decreased respiration rate were observed at 2,000 mg/kg (EU-RAR (2008)). From the above results, it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects, respiratory tract irritation). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

H400 | P273 P391 P501 |
From 48-hour EC50 = 0.045 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (EU-RAR, 2008), it was classified in Category 1. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Long term (Chronic) | Category 1 |
Warning |
H410 | P273 P391 P501 |
If chronic toxicity data are used, then it is classified in Category 1 due to being not rapidly degradable (a degradation rate by BOD: 56% (EU-RAR, 2008)), and 21-day NOEC = 0.013 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (EU-RAR, 2008). If acute toxicity data are used for a trophic level for which chronic toxicity data are not obtained, then it is classified in Category 1 due to being not rapidly degradable (a degradation rate by BOD: 56% (EU-RAR, 2008)), and 96-hour LC50 = 0.16 mg/L for fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (EU-RAR, 2008). From the above results, it was classified in Category 1. |
