1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a report of an LD50 value of 4,390 mg/kg for rats (PATTY (6th, 2012)), it was classified as "Not classified" (Category 5 in UN GHS classification). | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a report of an LD50 value of 8.0 mL/kg (6,800 mg/kg) for rabbits (PATTY (6th, 2012)), it was classified as "Not classified." | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on the descriptions that in a skin irritation test with rabbits (OECD Test Guideline-compliant (no description of test numbers)), it was slightly irritating (ECETOC TR64 (1995)), and that in another test with rabbits, this substance was not irritating to the skin (PATTY (6th, 2012)), it was classified as "Not classified" (Category 3 in UN GHS classification). | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 2 |
Warning |
H319 | P305+P351+P338 P337+P313 P264 P280 |
There is a report that in an eye irritation test with rabbits (OECD TG 405-compliant), the MMAS (Modified Maximum Average Score), which is an index of eye irritation, was 0 in a 7-day observation, and it was not irritating (ECETOC TR48 (1998)). On the other hand, there is a report that in another test, since severe injury in the application of 0.1 mL of this substance into the eyes of rabbits and minor injury in the application of 0.02 mL were shown, it would cause conjunctival irritation and transitory damage of the cornea (both in PATTY (6th, 2012)). Based on a comprehensive judgement from these, this substance is considered to be irritating to the eyes, and was classified in Category 2. Besides, this substance was classified as "Eye Irrit. 2, H319" in the EU CLP classification (ECHA CL Inventory (Access on August 2017)). | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |

7 | Reproductive toxicity | Category 1B |
Danger |
H360 | P308+P313 P201 P202 P280 P405 P501 |
There is no information on the reproductive effects in humans. As for experimental animals, in a development toxicity study with pregnant mice dosed orally at 50-1,000 mg/kg/day during the organogenesis period (gestational day 6-15), decreased weight gain was observed in the maternal animals at 1000 mg/kg/day, and increased incidence of malformations including exencephaly and fused ribs were observed in the fetuses of the groups at or above 150 mg/kg/day (PATTY (6th, 2012), ECETOC TR64 (1995), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). Additionally, in a development toxicity study with pregnant rabbits dosed orally at 25-100 mg/kg/day during the organogenesis period (gestational day 6-19), maternal toxicity was not observed, but increased incidence of malformed fetuses including small spleens, short tails, and fused ribs was observed in the fetuses of the groups at or above 50 mg/kg/day, in addition, an increase in the embryo and fetal absorption was observed at 100 mg/kg/day (PATTY (6th, 2012), ECETOC TR64 (1995), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). From the above, as for experimental animals, increased incidence of malformations was observed at doses where general toxicity effects were not observed in maternal animals, therefore, it was classified in Category 1B. Besides, this substance is classified as "Repr. 1A" in EU (ECHA CL Inventory (Access on August 2017)). |

8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There is no information on single exposure in humans. As for experimental animals, there is a report that in single inhalation exposure studies with guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs and cats by inhalation of 10,000 ppm for 1 hour, findings suggesting mucosal irritation and narcotic effects were observed, but all survived (PATTY (6th, 2012), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). However, these were not adopted as evidence because details were unknown. Therefore, it was classified as "Classification not possible." | FY2017 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.1)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
