H302 | P301+P312 P264 P270 P330 P501 |
There are reports on two LD50 values for rats of 1,167 mg/kg (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 8 (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)) and 1,470 mg/kg (EHC 128 (1991)), both of which correspond to Category 4. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

- | - | The classification is not possible due to no in vivo test data. Besides, as for in vitro tests, there is a report on a negative result in an Ames test (NTP DB (1980)), a negative result in a chromosomal aberration test with CHO cells (NTP DB (Access on Sep. 2012)), and a positive result in a sister chromatid exchange test with CHO cells. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

H360 | P308+P313 P201 P202 P280 P405 P501 |
As a result of gavage administration to females rats on gestational days 6-15 (doses: 50, 100, 200 mg/kg/day), there were no effects on body weights, organ weights, and blood in maternal animals, but a decrease in the number of live fetuses was observed at the high dose (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 8 (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)), and because effects were found in fetuses at the dose that did not cause general toxicity in parent animals, it was classified in Category 1B. Besides, it is reported that in another test by gavage administration to females rats on gestational days 9-13 (doses: 100, 300, 1,000 mg/kg/day), yolk sac diameter, fetal crown-rump length and head length significantly decreased at the middle dose where slight to moderate hepatocellular hypertrophy was seen in maternal animals (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 8 (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 2 (systemic), Category 3 (narcotic effects) |

In an acute oral toxicity test with rats, there were clinical signs of depression, flaccid muscle tone, prostration, piloerection, loose stool, hypothermia, and coma and necropsy findings of distention and hemorrhage in the gastrointestinal tract, and an LD50 value was 1,167 mg/kg (EHC 128 (1991)). From the above, it was hard to specify the target organ, but because the LD50 value was within the guidance value range for Category 2, it was classified in Category 2 (systemic toxicity). And it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects) because depression and coma were observed. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 2 (liver) |
Warning |
H373 | P260 P314 P501 |
In diet administration tests with rats, tissue degeneration in the liver was observed in the 500 ppm group (converted guidance value: 18 mg/kg/day) after 28-day administration (0.5, 5, 50, 500 ppm, converted guidance value: 0.018, 0.18, 1.8, 18 mg/kg/day), and the incidence of mild liver degeneration increased at 500 ppm (25 mg/kg/day) after 90-day administration (0.5, 5, 50, 500 ppm, 0.025, 0.25, 2.5, 25 mg/kg/day) (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 8 (Ministry of the Environment, 2010)). Based on the above reports, it was classified in Category 2 (liver) because both the doses corresponded to the guidance values for Category 2. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Short term (Acute) | Category 1 |
Warning |
H400 | P273 P391 P501 |
It was classified in Category 1 from 48-hour EC50 = 0.13 mg/L for crustacea (Ceriodaphnia dubia) (CICAD 60, 2004). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Long term (Chronic) | Category 1 |
Warning |
H410 | P273 P391 P501 |
If chronic toxicity data are used, then it is classified in Category 1 due to being not rapidly degradable (not readily degradable, a degradation rate by BOD: 0% (Biodegradation and Bioconcentration Results of Existing Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substances Control Law, 1982)), and 32-day NOEC = 0.0245 mg/L for fish (Pimephales promelas) (AQUIRE, 2013). Acute toxicity data were not obtained for a trophic level for which chronic toxicity data are not obtained. From the above results, it was classified in Category 1. |
