In addition, also in the results of necropsy, no toxicological findings attributed to this substance were observed (SIDS (2009)).

 There are 2 reports of skin irritation studies (OECD TG 404) using rabbits. It is reported that as a result of applying 25% of this substance for 4 hours, edema and erythema were observed, but that the recovery was within 7 days (SIDS (2009), BUA 189 (1996)). It is also reported that as a result of applying 55% of this substance, slight irritation was observed (BUA 189 (1996)). Moreover, in other study using rabbits, it is reported that as a result of 4-hour semi-occlusive application of 31.5% of this substance, slight irritation was observed (SIDS (2009)).
 All studies were conducted at low concentrations, so it is thought that they would indicate more reactivity at higher concentrations. However, they were judged to be insufficient data for use in classification. IUCLID information in the previous classification could not be confirmed because it was not available.  There are 2 reports of eye irritation studies (OECD TG 405) using rabbits. It is reported that as a result of applying 25% of this substance, corneal opacity, erythema, conjunctival edema and exudation were observed, but that the recovery was within 10 days (SIDS (2009)).
 It is also reported that as a result of applying 55% of this substance, it was irritating since moderate to strong corneal and conjunctival reactions were found (BUA 189 (1996)). Moreover, in 2 other reports on eye irritation tests using rabbits, it is reported that as a result of applying 5% of this substance, slight to moderate irritation was observed, but the recovery was within 12 days. Therefore, it was reported as this was moderate to irritation (SIDS (2009)).
 As both studies were conducted at low concentrations, it is thought that this indicates more reactivity at higher concentrations. Therefore, this substance was classified in Category 2A. IUCLID information in the previous classification could not be confirmed because it was not available. The classification was revised because the information was updated.

 As for experimental animals, in a 13-week repeated dose toxicity study using rats administered by feeding, at a dose of 230 mg/kg/day which is above Category 2, an increase in liver weights and hypertrophy of hepatocytes were observed. Moreover, in a 13-week repeated dose toxicity study using rats administered by gavage, at a dose of 165 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 119 mg/kg/day) which is above Category 2, an increase in liver weights, increase in ALT activity and mild irritation changes in the stomach were observed (SIDS (2009)). On the other hand, in a 3-week repeated dose toxicity study using rats administered by feeding, at a dose of 417 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 97.3 mg/kg/day) which is equivalent to Category 2, hypertrophy of hepatocytes and increase in ALT and LDH activity were observed (SIDS (2009)).
 As described above, it is thought that the liver is the target organ, but in the 13-week studies, effects were observed only at doses above Category 2, and in the 3-week study, it was observed at a dose near the upper limit of Category 2.
 Therefore, this substance was classified as "Classification not possible" based on the 13-week test results which are more suitable for using for GHS classification.
