In an oral administration test in pregnant rats during an organogenetic period (OECD TG 414; GLP), fetal toxicity such as embryo absorption and malformation in bones and viscera was observed at a high dose (1250 mg/kg), where parent animals showed toxicity including mortality (a number of deaths are unknown), clinical symptoms, and decreases in food consumption and weight gains. (IUCLID (2000))
A preliminary test showed toxicity to maternal animals and fetuses at a dose of 1000 mg/kg in addition to weak teratogenicity, and a final test showed 2 of cases of abnormalities in breast vertebra bone and costa, and a case of a diaphragmatic hernia at 1250 mg/kg. (IUCLID (2000))
From the above, it was classified in Category 2 because developmental effects such as teratogenicity were observed in fetuses at the dose where toxicity was shown in maternal animals.
