- - It is described in SIDS (2001), ECETOC (2005) that in a 13-week inhalation exposure test with male rats, microscopic examination of the testis and epididymis revealed impaired spermatogenesis in mid and high dose groups (7,000, 40,000 ppm, 6 hours/day) (Appleman et al., 1985). On the other hand, it was not reproducible in another test (Reuzel et al. 1986) (in a 13-week inhalation exposure test with three doses including maximum 7,000 ppm, 6 hours/day, there were no changes macroscopically or histopathologically in the testis and epididymis in weanlings or young adults, sperm concentrations, the number of sperm cells with deformed heads/tails, and the number of isolated heads/tails did not increase, and a no-observed-effect concentration (NOEC) was 7,000 ppm for the fertility effects), and contradicting results on male fertility are reported. Other than the above, no exposure effects of the test substance were observed in either a test by inhalation exposure before mating and during the first trimester of gestation or a test by inhalation exposure during the period of fetal organogenesis (SIDS (2001), ECETOC (2005)).
