Based on a LD50 value of 0.8 g/kg for rats (PATTY (5th, 2001)), the substance was classified into Category 4. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. As relevant information, a LDLo value is 1500 mg/kg (IUCLID (2002)). | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. As relevant information, there is information of a LC50 value for rats of 930 ppm/4h (RTECS (2008)). Since the LC50 value was lower than 90% of saturated vapour pressure concentration (189,737 ppm), the test was considered to be conducted for vapour with almost no included mists. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |

Warning |
H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
The substance causes severe burns and exposure to vapour is harmful (HSDB (2002)). It is reported that inhalation of the substance causes severe irritation of throat and may cause lung injury. Inhalation exposure cannot be tolerated even at low concentrations or short contact times (HSDB (2002)). Additionally, it is reported that inhalation exposure may result in laryngitis, dyspnea and chest pain, bleeding and ulceration of nasal and oral mucosa, pulmonary edema, chronic bronchitis, and pneumonia (HSDB (2002)). Based on these information reported in a document in List 2, the substance was classified into Category 2 (respiratory system). As relevant information, there is a report of suffocation and cyanosis as observed symptoms after inhalation exposure to mice (GESTIS (access on Aug. 2009)), and these symptoms suggest effects on the respiratory system. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
