There are many human case reports of accidental exposure (mainly dermal). Symptoms of exposure included lost of consciousness, comatose, dyspnea, and tonic-clonic convulsions. In some cases, exposed individuals died (ACGIH (2001)). When 5 mg/animal was administered orally to rats twice a week for 3 - 8 months (the dose level is estimated to be 12.5 mg/kg for a body weight of 400 g and the daily dose level is calculated to be approximately 4.1 mg/kg/day because of twice a week administration), decreases of total protein, glycoprotein and A/G ratio, pyknosis, anisokaryosis and fatty degeneration of hepatocyte as well as kidney lesions were found (ACGIH (2001), PATTY (5th, 2001)). Based on this report, the substance was classified into Category 1 (liver, kidney). In addition, similar findings were found in livers and kidneys in a rat test by inhalation exposure at concentration of 102 mg/L twice a week for 3 - 8 months ACGIH (2001)). Results of the inhalation test supported the results of the oral exposure test. There were no significant toxic effects in 4-week and 14-week inhalation tests in rats (highest concentration: approximately 0.21 mg/L) (CICAD 61 (2004)).
