1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" based on reports on an LD50 value of > 2,000 mg/kg for rats (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 9, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2011), JECDB (Access on October 2013), SIDS (2005)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" based on a report on an LCLo value (5 hours) for rats of 2,400 ppm (11,592 mg/m3) (converted 4-hour equivalent LCLo value: 14.49 mg/L) (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 9, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2011)). Besides, because the LCLo value is higher than the saturated vapour pressure concentration (4.89 mg/L), a reference value in the unit of mg/L was applied as mist. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Classification not possible |

5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. There are no in vivo data, and as for in vitro, it was negative in a bacterial reverse mutation test and a chromosomal aberration test with cultured mammalian cells (JECDB (Access on October 2013)). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. No fertility effects were observed in a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats in the oral route (gavage) (JECDB (Access on October 2013), Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances vol. 9, Tentative Hazard Assessment Sheet (Ministry of the Environment, 2011)). Because it is a result of a screening test, and sufficient data on developmental toxicity were not obtained, it was classified as "Classification not possible." | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 3 (Narcotic effects) |
Warning |
H336 | P304+P340 P403+P233 P261 P271 P312 P405 P501 |
In a gavage administration test with rats, reversible chromaturia, abnormal gait, decreased locomotor activity, prone position, irregular respiration, etc. were observed at the concentrations (500-2,000 mg/kg) within the guidance value range (JECDB (Access on October 2013)). From the above findings, it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 1 (blood system) |
Danger |
H372 | P260 P264 P270 P314 P501 |
In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats by gavage administration, anemia findings, increased extramedullary hematopoiesis and hemosiderin deposition in the liver and spleen and hemosiderin deposition in the tubular epithelium in the kidney were observed at or above 20 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 8.2-10 mg/kg/day (corresponding to Category 1)), and increased erythrocytic hematopoiesis in the bone marrow was also found at 100 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 41-52 mg/kg/day) (JECDB (Access on October 2013)). Both hemosiderin deposition in the liver, spleen, and kidney and increased erythrocytic hematopoiesis in the bone marrow were thought to be secondary effects of anemia, and it was judged to be inappropriate to adopt these organs as target organs. Therefore, it was classified in Category 1 (blood system). | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |

11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Short term (Acute) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | From 72-hour ErC50 > 866 mg/L for algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) (SIDS, 2005), 48-hour EC50 > 891 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (SIDS, 2005), and 96-hour LC50 > 100 mg/L for fish (Oryzias latipes) (Results of Aquatic Toxicity Tests of Chemicals conducted by Environment Agency in Japan (Environment Agency, 2000)), it was classified as "Not classified." | FY2013 | GHS Classification Guidance for the Japanese Government (FY2013 revised edition (Ver. 1.0)) |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Long term (Chronic) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | If chronic toxicity data are used, then it is classified as "Not classified" due to 72-hour NOEC (r) = 23 mg/L for algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) (Results of Aquatic Toxicity Tests of Chemicals conducted by Environment Agency in Japan (Environment Agency, 2000)) although it is not rapidly degradable (not readily degradable, a degradation rate by BOD: 6% (Biodegradation and Bioconcentration Results of Existing Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substances Control Law, 2001; SIDS, 2005)). If acute toxicity data are used for a trophic level for which chronic toxicity data are not obtained, then it is classified as "Not classified" because it corresponds to "Not classified" in acute toxicity for fish, and it is not water-insoluble (water solubility > 100 g/L, SIDS, 2005). From the above results, it was classified as "Not classified." |
