(1) It is described that this substance is easily decomposed by moisture in the air and that it gradually decomposes into vanadium trichloride (CAS RN 7718-98-1) and chlorine (CAS RN 7782-50-5) at 63 deg C or lower (Environmental Risk Assessment for Chemical Substances Vol.11 (Ministry of the Environment, 2013)). It is described that chlorine causes effects such as irritation to the throat and nose, coughing and dyspnea in humans (ACGIH (7th, 2001), PATTY (6th, 2012)).
(2) It is described that breathing this substance can irritate the lungs causing coughing and/or shortness of breath and also that higher exposures can cause pulmonary edema (HSDB (Access on August 2019)).
