Danger |
H200 | P370+P372+P380+P373 P201 P250 P280 P401 P501 |
Since the substance, which is wetted with less than 25% water by mass and containing less than 15% stabilizer by mass, is prohibited from being transported (Ship Safety Act / Article 5-1(t) of Public Notice of the Ministry of Transport, No.549 of 1979), we determined that it is an unstable explosive. (If the substance is wetted with not less than 25% water by mass or containing not less than 15% stabilizer by mass, it is defined as UN0150 and Division 1.1. The substance containing >= 7% wax is defined as UN0411 and Division 1.1.) |

- | - | Regarding in vitro tests conducted on this substance, both an Ames test and a chromosomal aberration test using cultured cells gave negative results (NTP TR 365, 1989). Due to lack of in vivo test results, classification is not possible due to insufficient data available. | FY2007 | GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)/Technical Guidance Document on the GHS Classification (6 Dec, 2005) |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Not classified |
- |
- | - | A 2-year mixed diet administration test using rats resulted in a slight increase in incidences of neoplasms of the Zymbal gland in rat groups of both sexes treated with PETN and NF (a mixture of this substance and D-lactose in a 1:4 ratio) (NTP TR 365 (1989)). However, according to NTP TR 365 (1989), this study does not provided sufficient evidence that this substance is carcinogenic. Similarly, in another 2-year mixed diet administration test using mice (maximum dose: 50000 ppm), the substance was evaluated to be not carcinogenic. While no classification of the substance has been carried out by authorized agencies, no clear carcinogenic effects were detected in carcinogenicity studies using two species of rodents. Thus, the substance has been classified into the "Not classified" category by specialists. |

9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Not classified |
- |
- | - | In mixed diet administration tests using rats (14-week test) or mice (13-week test), no clear toxic effects were observed at doses above the upper limit of the range of Category 2 guidance values (NTP TR 365 (1989)). Thus, the substance was classified into the "Not classified" category. | FY2007 | GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)/Technical Guidance Document on the GHS Classification (6 Dec, 2005) |

11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Short term (Acute) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Its 48-hour LC50 is reported to be 292 mg/L for crustaceans (Daphnia magna) (AQUIRE, 2007; Bentley et al., 1975). However, this value is higher than its water solubility of 43 mg/L (HSDB, 2007). Since no reliable test results are available, classification is not possible. As additional background information, another toxicity test on fish, which is reported together with the above crustacean test, was an inadequate test (considered as a preliminary test with a limited sample size). In addition, since exposure concentrations reported are higher than the water solubility of this substance, this test is also not very reliable. | FY2007 | GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)/Technical Guidance Document on the GHS Classification (6 Dec, 2005) |
