1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Category 4 |
Warning |
H302 | P301+P312 P264 P270 P330 P501 |
For three LD50 values for rats of >2000 mg/kg, ca. 685 mg/kg and ca. 1330 mg/kg bw (IUCLID (2000)), the two of them corresponded to Category 4 and the other one corresponded to "Not classified". The substance was classified as Category 4 since the majority of obtaining data corresponded to it. | FY2010 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 2 (central nervous system) |
Warning |
H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
As the clinical signs following single oral treatment with 215 mg/kg to rabbits and cats, tremor, opisthotonus, convulsion, weakness of the extremities, mydriasis, somnolence, etc. were reported (IUCLID (2000)). And there was another report stating that after single oral administration of 100 mg/kg to dogs, the animals exhibited the signs such as convulsion and tremor, but they recovered until the following day (IUCLID (2000)). Therefore, the substance was classified as Category 2 (central nervous system). Judging from the guidance values, Category 1 was considered as applicable, however, since the information was derived from the "List 2" information source designated in the GHS classification guidance for the Japanese government and did not meet with the judgment criteria 1b3), Category 2 was judged as relevant in accordance with the guidance document. | FY2010 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 2 (liver) |
Warning |
H373 | P260 P314 P501 |
In the 3-month feeding study in rats, an increase in liver weight and degeneration in the hepatic epithelium were noted at 500 ppm (50 mg/kg/day) (IUCLID (2000)). In addition, it was reported in the 3-month feeding study in dogs that the animals of the groups at 2000 ppm (80 mg/kg/day) or higher yielded hepatocellular icterus by damage to the liver due to intrahepatic cholestasis (IUCLID (2000)). Since the effective doses in both studies were involved in the range of Category 2 of the guidance values, the substance was classified as Category 2 (liver). | FY2010 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
