There is a description that pain, conjunctivitis, blurring vision and acute inflammation occurred in the accidental exposure to this substance in human eyes (EPA Pesticide (2005)). In a developmental toxicity study with pregnant rats dosed by gavage, at or above 200 mg/kg/day, general effects such as a decrease in weight gain and a decrease in food consumption were observed in maternal animals; at 500 mg/kg/day, decreased fetal weight and skeletal malformations (bent ribs) were observed in fetuses (EPA Pesticide (2005), HSDB (Access on August 2017)). Additionally, it is described that this substance shows an estrogenic effect (EPA Pesticide (2005)). As for humans, as the effects of inhalation exposure to end-use products containing this substance, the irritation-related symptoms such as irritation of the mouth/throat/nose, coughing/choking and shortness of breath and neurological effects such as dizziness, headache and blurred vision were reported though there is no information on the original source, and the details such as the frequency of exposures are unknown. As for experimental animals, it is reported that in a 13-week dermal application test (6 hours/day, 5 days/week) with rats, no systematic effect was observed; as local effects, skin irritation (erythema, desquamation, eschar formation), acanthosis, acute or chronic dermatitis and inflammatory exudate on the epidermal surface at or above 10 mg/kg/day, and ulcers, etc. at 25 mg/kg/day were observed (HSDB (Access on August 2017)).
As a result of consideration of the effects on the nervous system in humans, it was judged that the effects were due to a single exposure, and it was not adopted in repeated exposure.
