 It is described that acid anhydrides are hydrated to acids and cause irritation, reddening, corneal damage, caustic dermatitis, and burns (CICAD 75 (2009), and that this substance is a corrosive irritant to the skin (HSDB (Access on May 2016)). However, the former information (CICAD) is limited to sweating skin, and other organizations have not determined this substance to be skin corrosive (GESTIS (Access on May 2016), ICSC (2001)). Therefore, the substance was classified in Category 2.
 Besides, results of "not irritating" in a semi-occlusive test (OECD TG 404) for 4 hours using rabbits were reported (ECHA (Access on August 2016)). However, this information was not adopted as the evidence of classification because this information was not from the listed information sources available for the GHS classification guidance of the Japanese government.
