2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Category 2 |
Warning |
H315 | P302+P352 P332+P313 P362+P364 P264 P280 P321 |
It was classified in Category 2 because it is described that it was a severe skin irritant in humans (HSDB (2009)), and it is reported that there was severe irritation in a test in which 2 mg of this substance was applied to the rabbit skin for 24 hours, although it is List 3 data (RTECS (2011)). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 2 |
Warning |
H319 | P305+P351+P338 P337+P313 P264 P280 |
It was classified in Category 2 because it is described that it was a severe eye irritant in humans (HSDB (2009)), and it is reported that there was severe irritation in a test in which 250 microg of this substance was applied to the rabbit eye, although it is List 2 data (RTECS (2011)). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | The classification is not possible due to no in vivo test data. Besides, as for in vitro tests, there are reports on a negative result in an Ames test (EHC 93 (1989), NTP DB Study ID 356719 (1979)) and a negative result in a gene mutation test with Chinese hamster V79 cells (EHC 93 (1989)). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 2 (central nervous system) |
Warning |
H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
In an acute oral toxicity test with mice, it is reported that most deaths occurred within 24 hours, and an LD50 value was 2,198 mg/kg for males and 2,120 mg/kg for females (HSDB (2009)), and it is described that the primary signs of toxicity were increased respiration, tremors, and slight convulsions with central nervous system depression (HSDB (2009)). Therefore, it was classified in Category 2 (central nervous system). Besides, although the LD50 values exceeded the guidance value range, they were very close to the upper limit for Category 2, therefore it was judged that the signs of toxicity also occurred within the dose range for Category 2. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Data are lacking. Besides, it is reported that this substance inhibited rat growth and caused an increment in the ratio between liver weight and body weight, and it is reported that the capacity of erythrocyte production and the immune response of the spleen were decreased in rats by intoxication with this substance (HSDB (2009)), but the details are unknown in both. Therefore, the classification is not possible. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

- |
H401 | P273 P501 |
It was classified in Category 2 from 24-hour IC50 = 9.38 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (EHC 93, 1989; AQUIRE, 2013), and 48-hour EC50 = 3.4 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) (AQUIRE, 2013). | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment Long term (Chronic) | Category 2 |
- |
H411 | P273 P391 P501 |
Reliable chronic toxicity data were not obtained. It was classified in Category 2 because it is not rapidly degradable (not readily degradable, BOD: 0% (Biodegradation and Bioconcentration Results of Existing Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substances Control Law, 1982)), and it was was classified in Category 2 in acute toxicity. | FY2012 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
